   clothes on him. He wasn't gone far when he met a big fire. Paddy, perished with cold was delighted to meet the fire and began to warm himself. He was hardly warm when he noticed a crowd of the good people coming towards him, carrying a dead man. They called Paddy to roast the dead man for them and he, being too frightened couldn't refuse. They made him put on the dead man's clothes, and warned him not to roast the dead man too much, or if he did, he would be roasted himself. Paddy was roasting the dead man away and too much heat got to one side of him and burned it more than the other. Paddy getting excited let the dead man fall into the fire and ran away as fast as he could. When he went a few miles the night overtook him and he went into a house looking for lodging, not knowing it to be the same house he met first. The old man welcomed him as usual and brought him to bed with him. After a little while the old man said he could not sleep and to shorten the night for him, Paddy of course had a story to tell him this time and began to trace his adventures
