  1. The people took food three times a day in olden times. The meals which the people took usually were potatoes and milk. They worked for a time in the morning before breakfast. The food which they took was porridge in the morning and usually at night. Oaten bread and new milk was taken after their dinner. The people used to sit around the potato basket which was placed in the centre of the floor. When they were done eating the basket was hung on the wall.
    The bread that was eaten in olden times was potato bread boxty oaten bread and pancakes. The pancakes were made from flour and buttermilk. The boxty was made from grated potatoes and flour. The oaten bread was made from oaten meal and baked on a grid iron in front of the fire. Fish was eaten in olden times. The people used to drink black tea in Lent.
