    following story.
    One night he was asked to appear at a certain cross road with other companions, and each was told to bring with him a good hemp rope. At the hour appointed they met as requested, and each was told to go to the meadow of Perceval. There each man was ordered to tie up a large a load of hay as he could conveniently carry, and take it away to the meadow of a neighbouring farmer. Each man had to carry his load about a mile or so from the land of the Emergency man. In this way they carried away all the hay the Emergency man had saved, and the next morning his entire crop of hay had disappeared from his farm. They built a cock here and there in the district, one or two cocks on one farmer's land, and the same on another in such a way that it could not be traced by the R.I.C. The farmers who received it were ordered to give no information & each claimed it as his own if questioned. Then of course none of the neighbouring
