Abbe Hogan of Coolreagh, Bodyke, who went to school to Mr Bryne in Clonmoher in 1831, afterwards went to St. Sulpice, Paris to be educated for the priesthood became afterwards Professor in the Catholic University, Washington
There is a Station of the Cross in the Church to his memory erected by his niece Miss Mary Little, who taught for 40 years in Bodyke. She resigned in Jan. 1919.
Mrs. Brigid O'Doherty, wife of Principal in Bodyke Boys School, taught 47 years. She became Principal of the old school at the age of 16 years when this there Principal, wife of a policeman, was removed from this place. She was called each year to some centre for examination and though only a gesetz class pupil by self study, she passed to first of first being the highest grade and received a bonus for good service £7.10 a year for efficient service.
When she married their combined salaries were £39.
They had 14 children. Three of whom are teaching in Bodyke N.S. and one is an Ex Teacher.
