- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)There are a fair number of old people in Coonagh, about a dozen. None of them speak Irish. James Darby is the best story-teller we have. He lives in Lowertown.
There were brick-yards here in olden times and many got work there. The ruins of an old lime kiln are to be seen too. There was an old castle on the bank of the river, but only a little hill is to be seen there. The name of the castle was Coreen. The two dogs on O'Mara's gate were brought in from Coonagh. The land is flat all round. It is good land, but some of it is very wet.- Bailitheoir
