  1. Friday is thought lucky to start sowing potatoes. Tuesday is thought unlucky to start any new work. St Bridgets Day and Candlemas Day are the Cross Days of the year. They are called that because the people used to make crosses out of straw and they put them up on the roofs of the houses. November is the time of the year called The Harvest of the Geese because the geese is fat after eating the póirín and the oats
