    and other crops were taken away by the flood. All the provisions in the shops were destroyed. The streets were flooded. People had to stay in the upper stories of the houses and men and boats were employed in carrying food and provisions to the people. The only way these men had of distributing to them the food was by throwing it in through the windows. After a time the storm ceased. This storm remained in the minds of the people for many years.
