  1. Land consists of many kind of plants and weeds, some of which are harmful and others are not.
    Some plants are used for food of animals, and also as cures for ailments. "Fuairán" which is a common food for pigs, and "dock leaves" are given to them too.
    For dye in olden times, the people went round with pieces of iron that appeared to have a sharp edge on it, called a "Sgían", for scraping the white moss off sand-stones, a mugful of this white moss was supposed
