  1. When the flax is ripe they pull it and put it in a deep hole of water. They leave it for a week they take it out and leave it to drop they spread it out to dry. They gather it up into bundles and bring it home they put it up over the fire to dry. When it is dry they take it down and scutch it with the scutching hand? they make bundles of it and send it to the weaver and he makes linen.
