Long ago there used be old schools and when the children used to go to school first they would get a small spelling book then they would get a second spelling book, there was an old school in Mannin there was a woman teaching in the school and her name was Mrs O Rourke she used to teach them while they sat on the ridges and she stuck potatoes.
