    It is roofless, and its three remaining walls would, long since have touched the ground but for the thick coat of ivy which clings to them.
    It is from this castle and from two "duma's" which are situated near it that the surrounding townland derives its name; which is Doocastle.
    The old castle faces another one of its own description near Ballymote, and it is said that the inhabitants of both castles once had a furious battle in this district in front of the castle.
    That place is now called "Céimcloch" on account of all the stones which are scattered
