    Many stories have been told concerning Joe Mór's deeds, particularly of the duels he fought, and it is said that by fighting a duel he won his wife.
    Once, when Joe Mór was passing through Galway he saw a large gathering of people at a crossroads, and he rode up to see what was the matter. He was then told that a duel was about to take place, but that one of the duelists had not yet arrived.
