  1. Shops were not plentiful long ago in Ballina. The shops that were in Ballina were, Lang's, Egan's, Gills, Devanny's, Donagan's, Ruane's, Eriskins and Cosgrave's. There were other small shops in Ballina also.
    Every thing you wanted could be got in these shops. They used to sell meat at Christmas. People used to work for the goods they did get. Five of these shops are not in Ballina now.
