Once upon a time there lived a man in Derrimonan which is a village in the parish of Backs. One day he was cutting oats, it happened it was Saturday and he wanted to finish the cutting of the oats. As it was a bright moonlight night he intended to stay out to stook it, but every sheaf he placed on the ground was whirled up out of sight into the air and down again. The man got so terrified that he ran into the house, and was never seen out working after dark until the day he died.
