  1. Long ago the houses were not at all like the houses that are in it now a days. They were built of stone and mortar inside and protected on the outside by sod and clay.
    There was a bed in the kitchen in a place called an outshot. This place was about the length of a bed and going out a little further than the rest of the wall.
    In some of these houses there was only the kitchen, no room and sometimes there were a few beds in the kitchen. The fire place was against the gable wall in
