  1. Shrove was considered a very lucky time for marriage as well as the Wednesdays of March. A match was made. The bride's fortune wheter it was cattle or money was then fixed. They went to the church on horseback.
    The whole party went to the bride's house and had dinner there. There was a big dance till morning. About mid-night the strawboys came. They were always treated well and are even today.
