  1. Shoes were not common in ancient times. People were obliged to go to the nearest town to procure their requirement. Buying and selling were carried on and is still carried on after mass on Sundays.
    Very often money was not given in exchange for goods, but butter or eggs and often labor was given in exchange for goods. It was considered unlucky to con transact businesss on Monday and Saturday while Friday was a lucky day.
    Guineas and half guineas, crowns and half crowns sixpences (tanners) shillings (lobs) and ten penny pieces and a four penny pieces were commonly used.
