  1. A fort is a place where the people long ago used to protect themselves from the wild animals. It is a piece of land with a deep drain all round it. The people used to build little wooden houses inside where they lives. They left a passage across the drain to go in and out for their food.
    These forts now are used by the fairies. They are said to stay in them at night.
