   I hit that big fellow such a blow on the head,
   And I stretched him as if he was seven years dead.

   The other big fellow that hit me a crack,
   With my shillelah I hit him a whack,
   I made him confess as he lay in his gore,
   That an Irishman's coat was buttoned before.

   In less than ten minutes the field it was clear,
   The devil an Englishman dare to appear,
   Said one to another Why don't you run quick,
   Don't you see the wild Irishman has got a big stick.
