  1. There are many local place name in and around Glasthule.
    At the top of Eden Road there is a road leading down to the tramlines, called Sam Smith's road. It is so called because long ago a publican named Sam Smith owned a public house on that road. I suppose when men wanted a pint they would say to each other "are you coming up to Sam Smith's" and they got so accustomed to say "Sam Smith's" that the name stuck to the road. The original name is Lower Glenageary Road.
