  1. A long time ago there lived a small farmer and his wife. He was very rich and fell into bad health and spent all his money in doctors. In a short time he was left a poor man. The wife used to go to a shop that was not far off. One evening on her way home she had to go through an ault where there were supposed to be fairy men. It was coming on to night when she spied a fairy man under a bush making a wee shoe and she spoke to him and asked him to make her a pair of boots because she was very poor. He told her the next evening she would be coming from the shop he would have a pair of boots. On the next evening she came the same way from the shop. When she came to the place she spied the wee fairy knitting a wee purse he told her he would give her the purse and to never tell anybody where she got it and if she wouldn’t she would have plenty of money. Every day there was a shilling in the in the purse after some time she told her husband how she got the money. and from that on she was as poor as ever.
