    There used be a monthly fair held in Rakestreet some fifty-five years ago but it was discontinued on account of the new fairs being established in Crossmolina.
    At this fair cattle and sheep only were sold.
    The fairgreen was situated where Mrs Judge's shop and stables are.
    The man who owns the fairgreen collects customs from those who sell their stock but anyone who does not sell is not expected to give anything.
