- The cuckoo is a migratory bird. It comes here about the middle of May and leaves towards the end of July. It is a very nice bird but is not seen often because it frequents woods and hills. The colour is brownish-grey. She makes no nest, but waiting her opportunity she lays her egg in a lark's nest. The lark feeds the young cuckoo as well as its own until it gets bigger than the other birds and pushes them out of the nest. The cuckoo is pursued by other small birds. But no explanation of this peculiarity is available.
