One night the devil came for him. Will had an iron chair in the house. Anyone who sat on it, could not get off it till Will would let them go. He told Satan to sit on the chair till he would wash his face. He was kept for three days on the chair. He said he would not come back for a year.
When the year was up he came back, and put his head in at the window and told him to come on. Will was shoeing a horse, and told him to take the sledge and do something.
