1. Names of Fields and Townlands

   

   Roinn Roinn Postáil

   Árd ma gcon, which gets its name from hounds which are often seen pursuing rabbits there.

   Tullac bog because it is a very wet field though elevated.

   Cna talmhan the name of a field because there are many nut trees growing there.

   Gleann tirm named because the land is very dry, or probably Gleann na dtarbh.

   Gort Teineadh is another name for the "Field of the red plain ". In olden times it was called "Gortkinney", which is the right name. It is called the "Field of the red plain" because in all the fields around this place there are mineral products in the soil which colour it red or make it fiery.
