    Beneath you've wandered saint and bard
    When harps swelled free in Aileach's Hall;
    Defiant, still you stood on guard
    While Briton held our land in thrall !

    United stands, from seas to sea,
    And I, listening to curlews call,
    Shall climb your slopes eventually free!

    And fairies in the moonlight ride,
    The old folk used to say,
    The cuckoo, there, in spring-time calls,
    The thrush and linnet when
    The summer sunshine softly falls
    On Cregnahorna glen.
