  1. Jack the rag is one of the travelling men, who comes to Howth.
    He got that name from his work. His name is Jack Reynolds and he follows his father and grandfather. They did the same work years ago.
    Hew gives money or swops cups and saucers for rags, bones and bottles. He sometimes shouts "gather me ups," when he is going round.
    He does not tell any stories and sometimes he does be very cross, if he does not do a good trade.
