- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)There was once a king and queen and they had one son, a beautiful young prince . Well the queen died soon after he was born. When she was dying she left an obligation on the king not to put anyone over her child. When the child grew up the king sent him to college. After a few years the king wanted to get married again as he had no one to look after his house the servants gave him no satisfaction. So he sent for the prince to see how he would like the woman he was going to marry. Well they got married anyhow and they lived agreeably for a long time, and the king was satisfied. The queen used like to have the young prince out walking with her and they were very friendly.
There was a hen=wife and she used to be gathering fowl and eggs(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
