   One I was the Friars guest
   In my uncles's habitation
   One night as I laid down to rest
   I saw a conflagration

   The window frames were all in flames
   I thought my brain was turning
   I saw a rat running round the floor
   Carrying a candle burning
   III
   Had I a weapon in my hand
   That vermin I would slaughter
   But I was locked in without fire-men
   No engine, hoes or water.
   IV
   In comes the friar he cries out fire
   Saying Piercey now you see your transgression
   No look nor grace could be in this place
   With a man of your profession.
   V
   You know you were admited here
   Without the provincials knowledge
   But now you are here in your wild career
   To burn down our college.
