In the days of the Penal laws between 1762 - '73 when the people were not allowed to go to mass, a man named "Connolly" was living there and he gave them the use of a room for a church.
On account of the great cover of woods round about, people could come very secretly to this church. They came from over twenty miles to hear Mass there. On Christmas day the Mass used to be read at Midnight. The window of the church is yet to be seen and was never removed.
