  1. In the village green the fairs used to be held. The old fairs are altered. There was no accommodation where the fairs were held long ago that is the reason why they were changed.
The town fair is held in the green.
"Toll" is still paid. It goes over to England to the "Ear of Harewood".
Toll is usually calculated as follows:-
    1d for a bonham, 3d for a calf, 6d for a cow or a horse.
"Luck Money" depends on the amount got for the animal, 6d for a pig or a sheep 2/6 for a cow 5/- for a horse.
The pigs are marked with a scissors all other animals are marked with "raddle".
The bridle and saddle are taken off the horse and a halter put on when selling.
There are certain days for sheep and pig fairs in the town.
The special fairs for sheep are in the month of July. The special fairs for bonhams are in the month of March. There are special fairs held for pigs every second Tuesday of the year.
