- (continued from previous page)Shone Burns was famous all over Kerry for his strength. On one occasion he went to Ballintogher, Lixnaw, for a load of lime. When he was coming near the Kiln he saw a great many cars cars before him. He immediately untackled his horse. He took the cart and lifted it high over his head. The cart could weigh about seven hundred weights. He passed by all the other carts with his own cart over his head. He laid down his cart at the mouth of the Kiln. When the other men saw this, instead of getting rough with him it is how they helped him to fill his load. Maybe it was a good job they did not get rough with him. He then lifted the full load over his head and went back and put his horse under the load again.
- Long, long ago there was a very strong conestable who arrested every strong man he met. One day he met Shone Burns so he said to Shone. "You are drunk. "I am not garsún" said shone "well you must come with me." "Yerah garsún I will go a small piece of the way with you" says Shone.
