  1. A man by the name of OConnor went to the fair of Limerick with a horse to sell. As he was riding through the fair he met a man whom he did not know. This man saluted Mr O'Connor and called him by his name. Mr O'Connor said to him "You have the advantage of me I do not know you. I know you well and all your place. "You have a field to the west of your house with a fort in it and there is a whitethorn bush about twenty yards out from the fort. When you go home dig under that bush and you will be rich for ever". A few nights after himself and his sons and a few more men went digging under thebush. One of them was a student and he was with them. When the men were digging for a while he made them stop. He would not allow them dig any further. All the neighbours knew that this man was digging for gold and a poor man and his two sons dug the hole and got a pot of gold.
