    A man named Mick Gilheany was going to a fair to buy a cow.

    (continued from previous page)
    green there was nobody in it.
    The first man who came was an old man. This old man had a cow.
    Mick asked him how much did he want for the cow. ''Ten pounds,'' said the man. ''I'll give you eight pounds,'' said Mick. ''No we will divide the difference,'' said the man. Mick had a bad pound in his pocket and he gave eight pounds and the bad one to the man. The old man seemed to be satisfied. Mick paid him his money and brought home the cow.
    When he was beside his own house the old man walked out on the road and stopped the cow. He told Mick that he got a bad pound and he
