  1. There are four forges in this parish of Rattoo. The smiths people have followed the trade for many years. Some of the forges are situated near a cross road. Others are situated on the road side. They are all situated near a stream.
    The forge is covered with felt. Some of the are in the shape of a horse shoe.
    The smith has a bellows, a sledge, a hammer, and many other things. The smith shoes horses and asses. He makes ploughs and harrows
    Ironing wheels is done in the open air. The smith can cure a drop in a horses hoof. The forge is the center of gossip
