Down in Kilderry oft in my childhood
I spent my young days with a heart free from care
And gathered the fruit that grew in the wild woods
And culled the wild roses perfuming the air
And often at the eve when home wards returning
As I watched the sun shedding its rays o'er the plain
And oh what delight in my young heart was burning
As I wished in Kildenny I would always remain
I'm a cluster of trees neath the fields of Kildenny
Stands the old abbey ruins with its ivy clad walls
