The names of some of the birds that live here are...

    (continued from previous page)
wagtail, jackdaw, pigeon, tit-lark, woodquest, ducky-diver, sparrow, tit-wren.
Some of these birds go away from us in winter, to hotter countries, namely, the cuckoo, corncrake, swallow, and some of the other birds. People saw that when you hear the cuckoo for the first time if you look under your food and find a grey hair under your food, you will live to comb a grey head. The crow makes a nest up in a tall tree. The cuckoo makes no nest, but she lays her egg in the nest of a robin.
Thrushes usually build their nests in tall dale trees. When swallows fly low, bad weather is expected, and when the curlews area screaming it is going to rain. The old people say that it is unlucky to kill a swan.
Small birds follow the cuckoo to feed her.
