  1. Shops were not common in olden times. Goods were sold after Mass. Goods were bartered in the district. Labour was given for goods.
    The Fridays were counted unlucky for buying and selling.
    Pedlars used to go from house to house in olden times selling tweed and cloth and used to get lodging from the people about the place. Jews used to come to the houses buying feathers and old rags.
    The various kinds of coins were half pennies, pennies, three penny and four penny pieces, sixpences, shilling, two shilling pieces, half crowns and crowns.
