  1. In this locality the people observe certain feasts and Customs. The following is a list of the feasts and their customs.
    On St Stephen's Day the young boys of this district catch a wren and go in pairs from house to house gathering money and singing the wren song. "The wren, the wren, the king of all birds. On St Stephens Day he was caught in the furze. Up with the kettle down with the pan give us our answers and lets us be going.
    On St Patricks Day the people wear shamrock on their coats and hats and send it to their friends in America and England.
    On Shrove Tuesday the people make pancakes and they have a feast that night because next day is the first day of lent. On Ash Wednesday the people go to mass and they get holy ashes on their foreheads. On holy Thursday the people visit the church and they also visit it on Good Friday.
    On Holy Saturday the holy water is blessed. The people bring holy water home on Easter Sunday and sprinkle it on the house to have a blessing on the house that year.
