    Long ago there lived a family of the Noughtans in a field near a fort, and the name of this field was Tom na gcath.

The next morning the whole family were ill except the mother. None of the neighbours would come near the house, and the family were dying with the thirst, and they had neither milk or water to drink. They were lying on straw on the floor of the kitchen.
