Judging by the appearance of the now bleak hillside which still bear the traces of cultivation in former times, the land must have been intensively cultivated. Traces of potato ridges and corn "hints" are still to be seen even in the bleakest and poorest hill tops. Lime must also have been extensively used in almost every field there is the remains of a lime kiln
