    milk and meal to make white gruel. As soon as the gruel was cooked the son gave his mother a pinch. She gave an unearthly roar stretched herself on the table and sat bolt upright. Out with the boys and girl's as fast as they could go. None of them looked back but kept running and their hearts outside their mouths. They were hardly outside when the boy put the bolt on the door and he and his mother had the best meal that they had for many days before that.
