- Local fairs are held at Killarney, Knocknagree, Millstreet, and Castleisland. Fairs are held once a month. Many people who are rich to-day were once people who bought and sold cattle.
Fairs are usually held in the fair field. Toll is pain on cattle which are sold. When the animal is sold lick is given according to the price of the animal. This is called "Luck Penny".
When a bargain has been made the buyer marks the price on a ticket and gives it to the seller. When an animal is sold it is marked with chalk or tar to distinguish it from the other animals at the fair. Long ago people used to swap animals and then the owner of the better animal used to get money from the other person. There is a big animal fair held at Killorglin which is called "Puck Fair".- Bailitheoir
