   Very seldom travellers call to the houses here now but formerly they called regularly.
   It is not always the same families that travel through this district.
   The Sheridans and several groups of Gipsies went about long ago.
   The families that go about still are the Coffeys from Beaufort the Currans and Riordans from Glencar.
   In former years there was a famous traveller named Colonel O'Sullivan.
   He imagined he fought in every battle in Europe.
   Travellers which are called tinkers and pedlars sell articles.
   The tinkers make saucepans and gallons of tin which they buy in the shop and then sell them.
   Sometimes they sell wooden stools and little tables.
   The pedlars sell laces, thread, thimbles, needles, pins and pipes.
   Sometimes they were welcome because the housekeeper might be in need of some articles.
   They sleep on beds of straw in little tents of canvas by the side of the road.
   They ask alms in the houses as they travel.
   People give them flour, potatoes, eggs and milk.
   They travel in carts and traps.
   When they ask alms they say - "For Gods sake"
