In a jiffy he was on the outskirts of the crowd. A strange sight met his eyes - the King's daughter stood alone at the edge of the sea while the King and terror stricken crowd looked in from a safe distance. Without saying a word he flew to the girls' side jumped off his horse, tied him to a rock and stood between the girl and the sea waiting for the dragon to appear. He had not long to wait Soon he saw him coming towards the land, splitting the waves and sword in hand he waded out waist deep in the water to meet him. The dragon attacked him and they fought all day without either killing the other. At evening the very much wounded dragon went out to sea to return next day to claim the girl(continues on next page)
