    sledge, a hammer and all kinds of iron for making shoes and gates and all ironwork with it.
    There are usually two parts in the door of the forge. There is only one fire-place inside. There is also a fire-place outside in the street for reddening tyres of the wheels of carts.
    The bellows is a bit of leather and a stick on it and they swing it up and down so as to kindle the fire. They weren't made locally at any time.
    The smith shoes horses, and asses but they never shoe cattle for they were never shod.
