- Long, long ago there lived a great and wonderful king. He was very rich and lived in a beautiful castle. He loved to be in the open air and spent most of his time there. He had many servants at his castle and about the grounds. He had also an army of soldiers of which he was very proud.
He had large forests and orchards. The King loved (cherries) red cherries.
One day the king happened to be standing near a large cherry tree, which was almost breaking down with juicy fruit, when a little bird came to the tree and amid its song ate a cherry or two.
