- Travelling folk were very common long ago and were divided up into different classes. These were tinkers, who used to come around to the peasants begging, gipsies who were like the tinkers but dwell in caravans, pedlars who used to come selling small articles in exchange for rags, bottles, metal and other things and tramps who used to bring plenty of news to the farmers and spend the night in their houses.
These used to get a welcome reception always. Nearly all these were lame and they were called bacachs. Some were good musicians and were(continues on next page)- Collector
