Any one who went on water Whit Sunday was supposed to get drowned. It is said that if you wash your face in the dew May day you would not get sun burnt for the year. Hallow-een was one of the best feasts they had. They used to make a cake and put a ring, a thimble and a half-penny in it. They always left a bit on the wall for the pookas.
