  1. In Kiltimagh we had four smiths and two nail makers. Burke's forge was where the Convent is now. Some of the forges are thatched with straw or green rushes.
    The forge fire is on top of a rough stone platform three feet high. The bellows is behind it. Close to the fire there is a stone basin for holding water and brush to sprinkle the fire.
